2022 Most Trusted Green Vehicle: Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius was instrumental in bringing hybrid technology to the masses, so it’s no surprise that Canadians have voted this efficient car as the Most Trusted Green Vehicle in the 2022 AutoTrader Canada’s Choice Awards.

As the green vehicle segment expands quickly and gas prices continue to climb, the Toyota Prius has been a favourite for its simple, reliable operation and incredible efficiency. With a conventional “self-charging” hybrid and a plug-in hybrid, the Prius lineup also now offers electric all-wheel drive, giving Canadians some extra confidence in challenging weather while barely impacting fuel economy. Toyota also includes a lengthy list of standard safety and driver assistance features on its popular Prius.

First arriving in Canada in 2000, the Prius has had more than 20 years to make its mark on Canadian drivers, and even when the green vehicle segment has grown and advanced so much in the past two decades, it’s impressive that the Prius has made such a lasting impact. It’s not unusual to see reports of Prius drivers with models that have over 300,000 kilometres on the odometer with plenty of life left in them.

As a green car pioneer, the Toyota Prius has cemented its place among electrified cars and in the hearts of drivers focused on efficiency.
