Toyota Wins as Canada’s Most Trusted Automotive Brand in the 2024 AutoTrader Awards

Toyota has been crowned as Canada’s Most Trusted Automotive Brand in the 2024 AutoTrader Awards, signifying an impressive repeat win for this Japanese brand.

According to a study commissioned by AutoTrader, 27 per cent of Canadians surveyed say that Toyota is their most trusted automotive brand, nearly double the proportion of the next highest brand (Honda), and a 3 per cent increase over last year’s survey results. This has been a hugely successful year for Toyota in the 2024 AutoTrader Awards – the brand has won eight trophies, the most of any automaker this year and the most in the history of the AutoTrader Awards.

Toyota has worked hard for generations to earn its reputation for building value-packed, reliable, and robust vehicles. Celebrating its 60th anniversary in Canada this year, Toyota has come a long way and has so far sold more than 6.5 million vehicles in this country.

The steadfast Corolla is consistently the best-selling car in the country and now offers hybrid and all-wheel drive versions, blending efficiency and affordability with all-weather capability. As if that wasn’t enough, Toyota also introduced the GR Corolla, a feisty and ridiculously fun AWD hot hatch, and a manual-transmission Supra, proving that the brand still has excitement coursing through its veins.

Toyota’s top three selling models in the country are the RAV4, Corolla, and Tacoma. Last year, the brand introduced two new models, the Crown sedan and the Grand Highlander SUV, bolstering its already strong lineup with even more options for Canadian drivers. A Crown Signia SUV will join the lineup in 2024, along with the revived Land Cruiser, a new-generation Camry, and an all-new RAV4.

Each Toyota comes standard with a long list of safety features, another factor that helps it earn the trust of Canadians. Canadians have likely also taken note of the fact that the brand helped pioneer efficient hybrid vehicles and that it manufactures some of its models locally in Canada.

With a diverse lineup that includes everything from efficient runabouts, electrified vehicles, stylish sedans, practical family haulers, exciting performance cars, rugged off-roaders, and hard-working trucks, it’s no wonder that Canadians trust Toyota as much as they do.

These are the findings of a study conducted by AutoTrader from Oct. 27 to Nov. 6, 2023, among a nationally representative sample of 3,012 Canadian adults (18+) who are members of the online Angus Reid Forum. The survey was conducted in English and French. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/- 1.8 percentage points at 95% confidence level.
