Ahh, the venerable pickup truck. Reliable mule to the working man. Ideal platform for lifting, supercharging and bro-dozing in general. Scourge to the Brits. Scourge to The Continent, too, come to think of it. It’s all of these things and many, many more. But, ideal road trip companion? What about daily driver? Maybe not traditionally, but that’s changing as families reduce their car count. In order to find out just how livable they are, we grabbed one and took it on a round trip from Vancouver, BC to Calgary, Alberta – Canadian home of the pickup truck – and back. To see how efficient a pickup can be, we took one of the diesel variety: the 2015 Ram 1500 Bighorn, complete with optional rear air suspension. Should be epic.
