Lexus HPX crossover concept
After months of speculation, Lexus has revealed it will build a three-row crossover, according to a report from Automotive News.
Lexus' general manager, Jeff Bracken, made the pronouncement in an interview at the New York auto show, saying the new vehicle will use the well-known RX nameplate rather than a new moniker as had been bandied about before.
The downside is the new crossover won't reach the marketplace for at least a year-and-a-half, with a projected on-sale date of late 2017 or early 2018. Till then, Lexus lovers who want three rows of seating will have to make do with the pricey and truckish GX and LX models.
Auto News says styling will be very similar to that of the current RX, which was just completely redesigned, and will use gasoline and hybrid powertrains.
