Audi is Finally Sending Over Their Hot RS3

After four years of the current generation, Audi recently showed the facelifted A3 and S3. What they didn't show was the best one: the RS3. Well now it looks like we'll be getting the one that got away. The RS3, in sedan form. Car and Driver is reporting that they have a reliable source telling them that we'll be getting the RS3 sometime next year, as a 2018 model. We have heard rumours of the same, and that it should be coming to Canada as well.

The RS3 will be powered by a brand new 2.5L turbocharged five-cylinder that is expected to be produce somewhere near 400 horsepower, enough to beat the Mercedes-AMG CLA45. Mated to the new engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Combined with Quattro all-wheel drive, this should give the little Audi a low four second 0-100 km/h time and a top speed wherever Audi decides to set the limiter. Along with all the power, expect 19-inch wheels, special exterior trim, better leather on heavily bolstered sport seats, improved suspension, and massive brakes to accompany the new powertrain and the updated front and rear fascias. Carbon ceramic brakes are available on the current model, as are magnetic ride shocks. Although we've yet to see if they'll make the option list on this side of the pond.

In Europe, the RS3 comes in sportback (wagon) form only, so the sedan may end up being unique to North America. While you wait for it to arrive, you can whet your appetite with our first drive of the outgoing model.
