Honda to Recall Another 20 Million Vehicles with Takata Airbags

Honda says it will preemptively recall 20 million more vehicles globally to replace Takata airbag components that could misfire like the faulty inflators that have been linked to at least 10 deaths.

Honda's news of a move that could cost it nearly US$2 billion comes on the heels of a U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announcement that the safety regulator had ordered Takata to recall 40 million of the inflators that could malfunction in the same way.

We're not sure if it's just synchronicity, but it seems manufacturers are being quicker to issue airbag-related recalls, whether tied to Takata or not. Take last week's Nissan Canada's recall of more than 250,000 vehicles for front passenger occupant classification sensors, and this Continental recall from February 2016.

Here's our current list of Canadian vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recall.
