Honda Recalls Pilot, Acura MDX SUVs to Replace Faulty Gas Tanks

Honda has announced a small recall of its Pilot and Acura MDX SUVs to replace fuel tanks that could leak.

In a total of three vehicles, including the 2015 MDX and 2016 Pilot, improperly manufactured gas tanks could separate along welds mating the different pieces of metal that make up the tank structure. Naturally, the fear is that leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source could cause a fire.

This isn't the first time Honda has recalled these models over fuel leak fears: in 2012, a few hundred models were called back due to a faulty fuel vapour recovery component that was responsible for fuel leaks.

Dealers will replace the faulty tanks in the affected vehicles.
