Maserati Reveals Refreshed Quattroporte

Hot on the heels of the all-new Levante and the recently available Ghibli, Maserati has released a restyle and refresh of the Quattroporte for 2017. The exterior gets new bumpers front and rear, with a matte black extractor on the rear. The grill is now concave and sharper, matching the new look of the Levante and the side skirts and mirrors have been restyled as well.

Behind the new sharper grille are adjustable air shutters to block unneeded air from entering the engine compartment. This lowers lift in the front and improves aerodynamics. If the extra airflow is needed, the shutters open as needed. There is also a flat-bottom undertray, which further decreases lift. Maserati claims that the changes, along with the new bumpers, decreases drag by 10-percent.

Inside there is a redesigned dash and center console with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The screen takes up most of the center stack, and controls all functions except for the climate control. Fortunately, climate control is via conventional buttons directly below the screen. There is heavy use of carbon fiber or wood across the interior, and whatever isn't carbon or wood is most likely leather. the ventilation system also has a new air quality sensor that monitors pollution levels and claims to prevent polluted air and toxic gases from getting in the cabin.

Changes to the electronics start with the new infotainment system having Apple Carplay and Android Auto function. There is also a new optional active safety package that comes with adaptive cruise with stop & go, lane departure warning, forward collision with emergency braking, and a surround view camera.

Maserati has announced two new top-level trims, the new GranLusso and GranSport trims come with unique interiors and exterior design. GranLusso is the higher comfort option with exclusive materials. There are unique fasicas, side skirts, and 20-inch wheels, but inside is a Zegna edition interior with silk fabric on the seats, doors, headliner and visor. There is also special wood on the dash and steering wheel. GranSport adds more agression to the nose, 21-inch wheels, and blue tridents. Inside are sportier seats with a carbon or leather steering wheel.

Engine choices will be a 530 hp 3.8L twin-turbo V8 and a 410 hp 3.0L twin-turbo V6 both fitted with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive with skyhook adjustable damping.

The new 2017 Maserati Quattorporte should be available later this summer.
