South Korean automaker Kia is asking owners of nearly 1,300 examples of its Sorento crossover to bring their vehicles back to the dealer to inspect rear suspension crossmembers.
Kia says a crossmember assist arm bracket may not have been properly welded when the car was built and could fail. That would affect the alignment of the rear suspension and have a negative effect on the vehicle's handling, and possibly lead to a crash.
Dealers will inspect the crossmember on the affected cars, sold as 2016 models, and replace it where necessary.
