2017 Porsche Macan Adds Power With New Performance Package

Porsche continues the proliferation of its Macan compact crossover with the addition of a fifth trim level, the second new variant to appear for the 2017 model year.

Dubbed Macan Turbo with Performance Package, the latest member of Porsche's compact crossover slots in at the top of the range, above the Macan Turbo (without Performance Package).

The Performance Package extracts another 40 hp and and 36 lb-ft of torque, for 440 hp and 442 lb-ft total which Porsche says is good enough to cut 0.4 seconds off the car's 0-100 km/h time and takes top speed to 272 km/h, a bump of six.

As counterpoint to the extra power, the Performance Package model also gets front brake rotors 30 mm larger in diameter (for 390 mm) with six-piston calipers. Air suspension is also standard with a ride height 10 mm lower than the regular Turbo model.

No addition to a Porsche model's lineup comes without a stiff price increase, and here, that premium amounts to $11,800, for an MSRP of $97,600. The Macan Turbo with Performance Package is available now.
