British prestige car maker Bentley has detailed what it calls its first four-door model that can crack the rarefied 200 mph barrier (a bit more than 320 km/h) in the Flying Spur W12 S.
As the W12 label suggests, the new flagship of the Flying Spur line uses the same 6.0L, twin-turbo W12 engine (it's essentially two Volkswagen narrow-angle V6 motors fused together) as lesser versions, but tuned for an extra 10 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque, for 626 hp and 605 lb-ft total. Bentley says those nominal increases are enough to bump the car's terminal velocity to 325 km/h, or 202 mph. The non-S version, meanwhile, is an OCD sufferer's nightmare, topping out at a mere 199 mph, or 320 km/h.
Shared with other Flying Spur models is an AWD system biased toward the rear wheels in a 40:60 split.
But extra juice doesn't look like much on a stationary car, so the W12 S gets black exterior details – grille, light surrounds and rear diffuser – which set this new range-topper apart from more pedestrian Flying Spurs. Also included are 21-inch wheels finished in a choice of gloss black or dark tint.
The interior features black engine-spun trim that can be swapped out for carbon fibre, sport steering wheel with knurled shift paddles and unique treadplates and headrests. Climate and infotainment systems can be operated from the back seat using Bentley's Touch Screen Remote setup.
