Ford Recalls Focus, C-Max, Escape, Mustang, Transit, and Lincoln MKC Models

Ford is recalling 233,000 vehicles from model years 2012-2016 to replace a faulty side door latch. On certain vehicles, the pawl spring in the door latch can break. That will normally prevent the door from closing and latching. If the door is able to close, it could actually only be partially latched which could lead to it unlatching and opening while driving.

If the door opens unexpectedly, the occupant sitting in that seat could be injured or the vehicle could be damaged. A partially latched door can cause the interior light to remain lit, set a "door ajar" message in the instrument panel, or sound a chime to let the driver know there is an issue.

Models affected include the 2013, 2014, and 2015 C-Max and Escape, 2012-2016 Focus, 2015 Mustang, 2014-2016 Transit, and the 2015 Lincoln MKC. Dealers will replace all four door latches with a revised part on vehicles affected by the recall.
