Faulty Tires Spark GM SUV and Pickup Recall

General Motors has issued a recall for more than 1,400 full-size SUVs and pickup trucks so it can replace tires that could fail.

The campaign covers Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade SUVs, along with Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks.

The Continental tires on the affected trucks may be affected by a manufacturing defect that could cause the steel belts under the tread to separate. This could cause uneven tread wear and bulging, which would be made evident by vibration while the truck is in motion. Continued use of the tires could cause them to fail completely. GM is asking its dealers to replace the tires on affected trucks, sold as 2015 and 2016 models.
