Lexus will reveal a high-performance LC F version of its new flagship LC coupe this fall at the Tokyo auto show that will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 good for 600 hp.
U.S. car mag Car and Driver says a source within the company revealed a few details of the car, which contradict previous speculation the car would either be a hybrid or use a pumped-up version of the 5.0L V8 that powers the LC 500, not to mention other Lexus F cars.
The V8 will, reportedly, essentially be a pair of Toyota 8AR-FTS engines fused together at the crankshaft; that's the four-cylinder used in the 2017 NX 200t compact crossover, but with some obvious modifications to get 300 hp out of each four-banger, a motor that makes a more modest 235 hp in the NX. The V8 will use the same 10-speed automatic as the LC 500.
Look for the LC F to come fitted with some aggressive aero add-ons, plus upsized brakes to keep up with the drivetrain's extra urge. We'll have to wait for the October reveal to learn details, though some specs are certain to be leaked prior to the car's appearance in Tokyo.
