Porsche Launches Most Powerful 911 Ever at a Video Game Show

Porsche has revealed the latest member of the current 911 family, the GT2 RS, at E3, an annual video game show held in Los Angeles.

That seems like a weird venue for the launch of a track-ready sports car, except for the fact the car is the cover model for Microsoft's Forza Motorsport 7 racing game.

The car's appearance in that game is notable because according to The Verge, a recently-expired deal between Porsche and Electronic Arts meant the company's cars couldn't appear in any other "top-tier" racing games.

Details on the car are scarce, as the Microsoft press conference at E3 was more about the game and Porsche hasn't officially revealed the latest 911 itself, but the GT2 RS is said to be a RWD monster powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo flat six that, depending on who you ask, either makes 640 hp or nearly 700, according to the Verge report.

We'll have more details for you when Porsche releases them.
