Aston Martin Launches First AMR Models: V8 Vantage and V12 Vantage AMR

Aston Martin has just launched their first AMR production models, the V8 Vantage AMR and the V12 Vantage AMR. Both get extra power, light-weight bits, and are ready for road or track days. Even better, manual gearboxes are on the options list. But production numbers are limited, as Aston Martin is only building 100 V12s and 200 V8 cars.

The V8 Vantage AMR (for Aston Martin Racing) gets 430 hp. That's up 10 from the standard V8 Vantage. For the V12 car, there are 30 more horses underhood, bringing the total to 595. Both come with automated sequential-shift transmissions, but a conventional six-speed for V8 or seven-speed for V12 is available.

The AMR gets four exclusive colours, and a halo pack is available that cribs from Aston's 2016 World Endurance Championship-winning Vantage GTE. That pack gets you Stirling Green paint with Lime Green accents, with a Union Jack wing badge as an option.

The seats are now lightweight carbon fibre, as are the front grille, side strakes, and mirror caps, along with the instrument surround, door trim, and grab handles. If you want less weight, and more noise, tick the box for the titanium exhaust. That saves 14 kg over the standard system, and Aston said that it "sounds sensational."

Other options include an AMR aero kit to increase downforce, special custom-fitted luggage, or even an AMR-branded action camera to record your track day events.

Aston Martin CEO Dr. Andy Palmer said that "unmistakable in look and feel the Vantage AMR will appeal to our most enthusiastic customers. These are people who love our cars for their motorsport pedigree, and for their unmistakable dynamic and emotional qualities."

The first deliveries of the Vantage AMR models are scheduled for the end of the year.
