Dodge's Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody gets more tire, special wheels, and more cooling. And now it has a price. The road-course-ready Hellcat Widebody will start at $87,995. That's $10,750 over the standard car.
We gave you a look at all the changes that make the wider Hellcat last month, but here's the rundown. The Challenger Hellcat Widebody is 90 mm wider than the standard car, borrowing the wider fenders from the Demon. That lets Dodge bump the 275 wide tires of the regular Hellcat to a huge 305/35ZR20. Unlike the Demon's 315 width drag radials, the Widebody's tires are Pirelli performance rubber. Those tires are mounted on new 11-inch wide wheels at all four corners. It has the same 707 hp 6.2L supercharged V8 as the standard Hellcat. The Widebody will be available with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Dodge claims that the extra grip allows 0.97g on the skidpad, up 0.04g on the standard car. It is two seconds a lap quicker on Dodge's 2.8 km road course, and 0.3 seconds quicker on the drag stip, able to break into the 10s with a 10.9 ET.
The Widebody gets additional even more ready for the track with new air to water heat exchangers integrated into the supercharger. Dodge claims the new setup keeps intake air under 60° even under extreme conditions. The new cooling means that the engine can make max power for at least 20 minutes of hard driving on a road course at 38° ambient temperature.
Orders for the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody open this month and should start arriving at dealers in the third quarter of this year.
