Toyota has announced details for the 2018 version of its smallest hybrid, the Yaris-based Prius C hatchback, which this year gets revised styling and a standard backup camera.
The company's press release calls out new front and rear fascias complete with revised head- and taillight designs, an updated interior that brings a redesigned instrument panel and new air conditioning controls and steering wheel plus the added value of a standard backup camera at a base price that rises just $15, to $21,990.
But what Toyota doesn't mention is the black fender cladding that lends this little car the look of a crossover, but would look better if the alloy wheels that come with the Technology package hadn't been downsized to 15 inches from last year's 16s.
As before, the Prius C is a relatively basic car that comes with automatic air conditioning, power locks, windows and heated side mirrors, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, tilt-and-telescopic steering and keyless entry. An upgrade package adds an upgraded sound system and seat coverings, cruise control and a simulated leather dash pad.
A Prius C Technology model also carried over sees its price drop $30, to $26,950, likely thanks to that wheel downgrade. Still included is navigation, Bluetooth, satellite radio, steering wheel-mounted touch tracer controls, passive keyless entry, heated front seats, LED fog lights and a sunroof.
The 2018 Prius C is on sale now at Toyota dealers across Canada.
