Hyundai Pick-Up Coming to US, but What About Canada?

Hyundai in the US has confirmed that a pick-up truck is coming to the country according to Automotive News. This has been on the cards ever since the much-loved Santa Cruz concept gained heavy traction at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, but is now official.

That leaves the question - will Canada also see the Korean ute on our side of the border? Hyundai Canada's Public Relations Senior Manager, Chad Heard, was coy about confirming that, saying:

"Hyundai Auto Canada is aware of US reports about the Santa Cruz. The company is evaluating the concept vehicle and its applicability for this market. As a result, it’s too early to discuss the vehicle’s potential or product details."

If the Santa Cruz, or a derivative of it, were to come to Canada, it would add fuel to the recent resurgence of mid-size pick-up trucks in this country, and allow Hyundai to tap into one of the largest markets.
