Is a 6.0L W12 engine enough to be our autoTRADER.ca Find of the Week? How about a four-seat convertible that originally sold for more than $300,000? What if it was owned by one of the biggest Canadian musicians today? And he made it famous in a YouTube video? That's exactly what we have this week. A 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports convertible. Previously owned by deadmau5, and used in one of his Coffee Run interviews.
The Continental was the first model that Bentley designed and released after the BMW and Volkswagen Rolls debacle that saw Rolls in the hands of BMW and Bentley under the VW umbrella. The new car needed to impress, and it did.
The first "mass production" Bentley was unveiled in 2003. It was big, heavy, luxurious, and benefited from the might of the Volkswagen group. As with most super-luxury cars, though, it had a long model run. In this case, the second-generation wasn't shown until seven years after the first car launched.

In 2009, Bentley launched the Continental Supersports. It turned the 6.0L W12 engine up to 621 hp, and made a massive 590 lb-ft of torque. As a nod to being more environmentally conscious, it could run on E85 biofuel. In a car with a combined economy rating of 17.3 L/100 km. It could also run to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit 329 km/h flat out. That made it the fastest and most powerful production Bentley ever.
Bentley took about 100 kg out of the car, to improve handling. The suspension is lowered and stiffened. The six-speed automatic gets faster shifts. Bentley gave it carbon ceramic brakes that are bigger than the wheels on most economy cars - 16.5-inches.
Then in 2011, they cut the roof off. The soft-top Supersports offered the same raw speed and handling but added a light breeze to the experience. And could still top 320 km/h.
That's the model that is our Find of the Week this week. A 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports, for sale in Oakville, ON. But this isn't just any Conti SS. This one was owned by Canadian producer and DJ deadmau5.
The artist is known for his more flashy sports cars, notably the Ferrari 458 Italia that he vinyl wrapped to create the Purrari -causing Ferrari to issue a cease and desist order - or the Nyanborghini Purracan that replaced it. It was a Ferrari that he used for his Coffee Run video with then Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford.
If you aren't familiar with deadmau5's Coffee Run videos, think Musicians in Cars Getting Coffee. The artist takes a guest and they have a conversation while they drive around.
One of his most popular videos, though, took place in this very car. It was shot in 2014 and featured DJ Dillon Francis, as well as Skrillex. All three were in Toronto at the same time for various shows.
The trio spent 90 minutes stuck in Toronto traffic, trying to get to Toronto's The Beaches neighbourhood to get a coffee from Tims. Of course, there was a Tims across the street from the hotel, but that's not much of a video. Why the Continental instead of the usual Purrari? It was in Florida, and the Bentley was in Toronto.
The car looks mean in black on black with a black roof. It has quilted suede seats, and carbon trim on the dash and centre console. But Bentley decided that usable cupholders weren't necessary, so you'll be holding your own coffee in this one. Oh, and it's definitely been smoked in.
