AJAC Announces 2018 Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year Class Winners

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has just announced their 14 class winners for the 2018 Canadian Car of the Year and Utility Vehicle of the year awards.

There were big changes to the voting process this year, which saw nearly 100 members of AJAC voting for the honours. Vehicles were scored based on factors including performance, features, tech, design, and value. The change this year meant that every new vehicle on available on the market was eligible for an award, not just vehicles that were all new or heavily revised this year.

All 14 category winners are now eligible to win Canadian Car of the Year or Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year. The results will be decided by another round of voting and announced next month at the Toronto auto show.

Mazda and Jaguar Land Rover were the big winners, taking home three category awards each. Honda and Acura, Volkswagen, and Fiat Chrysler each won two categories.
