Refreshed Infiniti QX80 Gets More Luxury, Price Bump

Infiniti has just revealed pricing for the refreshed 2018 QX80 full-size SUV. It has a new look, a more upscale interior, and a price increase of $1,700.

The QX80 is the biggest Infiniti. It offers big space, big power, and, now, bigger luxury than before. Infiniti has added new seat materials, with new detailed stitching, quilting, and contrast stitching. The rest of the interior panels have been similarly upgraded, and feature a new coating that resists stains and dyes from other fabrics.

Rear-seat screens are up an inch to 8.0-inch models. That entertainment system has new HDMI inputs as well.

The QX80 has been made quieter inside. Thicker, more dense carpets, added soundproofing in the dash, and revised materials in the cargo area all help isolate the inside from the outside.

Most luxurious of all, the front seat cupholders can now both hold a 1,300 mL drink cup. Last year one side held 1,300 and the other side a mere 1,000 mL.

Infiniti has also updated the QX80's active safety features. It offers lane departure warnings, radar cruise, and autonomous braking. The QX80 has a new rear view mirror-mounted screen for the rear camera system.

Under the hood, the QX80's 5.6L 400 hp V8 remains unchanged, backed by a seven-speed automatic. In front of that, though, there are extensive sheetmetal changes. The new headlights have been moved higher into the prominent fenders. Previously they were mounted low and somewhat awkwardly in the nose. Revised fog lights complete the look in the nose. In the rear, new taillights and a new chrome strip in the tailgate complete the look.

The 2018 QX80 is on sale now.
