GMC today revealed the first vehicle to wear its all-new AT4 off-road trim designation will be the 2019 Sierra full-size pickup truck.
Based on the latest-generation Sierra, which GMC pulled the wraps off in early March, the AT4 will be get a two-inch factory suspension lift, standard 4WD with locking rear differential, Rancho monotube shocks and 18-inch wheels fitted with 33-inch all-terrain tires. Among the options will be 20-inch wheels and tires.
Cosmetic call-outs include black chrome trim, body colour grille surround and bumpers and red recovery hooks.
The AT4's high-tech touches include a traction select system that tailors throttle response and transmission shift points to various traction surfaces; a multi-colour head-up display that includes an off-road inclinometer; surround-view camera system; and GMC's new ProGrade trailering system and app.
Standard power will come from GM's 5.3L V8 engine, but the AT4 will also be available with the 6.2L V8 and 3.0L diesel inline six-cylinder that will be optional across the rest of the Sierra range. The V8s will boast stop-start technology and a fuel management system that will let the engine run on one to all eight cylinders depending on load.
The AT4 will also benefit from two of the 2019 Sierra's most notable features: the industry's first carbon fibre cargo bed and a multi-pro tailgate with six functions and positions.
