Audi has just revealed the all-new Q3 crossover, which receives a more athletic look and more tech as well as new powertrain options.
The Q3 starts with a big octagonal grille. The gaping maw looks like the equally bold grille on the new Q8 crossover, and it's part of a new look for the brand's SUVs. Aside from the grille, and the angry headlights beside it, the rest of the Q3 still looks largely like the old one. It's a more muscular look all around, though, with more pronounced shoulders, and more deeply scalloped doors. It also has a new rear end treatment with more prominent taillights.
Inside, the Q3 takes more inspiration from the Q8, and from its own grille. The octagonal shape is reflected in the framing of the driver side vent and the infotainment system. Gloss black trim surrounds the MMI infotainment display. The display, along with the ventilation controls are all tilted toward the driver.
The new Q3 has grown 97 mm in length and 25 mm in width, compared with the first-generation. That makes it 4,485 mm long and 1,856 mm wide. The wheelbase is stretched 77 mm to allow for more knee room in the rear. Audi says that headroom and elbow room are also expanded. The larger footprint allows for more cargo space as well, up to 1,525 L with the rear seats folded. That's up from 1,365 L in the old model.
Audi has added a new digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch screen to replace the conventional analogue gauges. It can be upgraded with Audi's virtual cockpit display that integrates the infotainment system into the dash. An 8.8-inch and 10.1-inch infotainment system are on the options list, and even the main dash display can be bumped up to 12.3-inches. The Q3's voice control has also been upgraded to better understand natural language, a feature from its big brothers.
The Q3 comes with new park assist features to self-park the vehicle as well as available 360-degree cameras. Audi pre-safe front safety system is standard and detects pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.
Three gas engines will be available on the Q3. While Canadian details weren't released, Audi did say the Q3 would be available globally with a 190 hp and 230 hp version of the company's 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder.
Deliveries of the Q3 in Europe will start in November. Canadian availability, prices and other details will be released later.
