Rock The Mahindra Roxor In Canada For $19,999

Indian car manufacturer Mahindra has launched its Roxor side-by-side UTV in Canada with a starting MSRP just shy of $20,000.

Based on an Indian-market SUV called the Thar, the Roxor is an off-road-only version not certified for highway use with a top speed limited to about 70 km/h.

The Roxor comes to North America as a complete knock down, or CKD, kit that is assembled at Mahindra Automotive North America's (MANA) assembly plant in Michigan. That's where workers bolt in a 2.5L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine good for a modest 62 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque along with a five-speed manual transmission and part-time, two-speed 4WD transfer case.

An uplevel LE trim boasts a fabric roof, a winch, light bar, BF Goodrich K02 off-road tires, side and rearview mirrors and grab handles.

Common to both trims is a surprisingly robust tow rating of nearly 1,600 kg (at a maximum speed of 25 km/h, mind you) and 9.0 inches of ground clearance.
