Lexus has cut prices across the board for its five-seat RX mid-size crossover, including a hybrid RX 450h that comes in at $6,400 less than last year. The RX 350's new starting price is $55,350, down $1,150 compared to the 2018 version.
Lexus has yet to announce 2019 pricing for the seven-seat RX L.
Like last year's model, the RX 350's starting price includes display audio with 8.0-inch display, 12-speaker stereo, 18-inch wheels, passive keyless entry, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers and a garage door opener. Lexus also includes its Safety System+ suite of active safety items, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic braking, lane departure alert with lane keep assist, radar cruise control, automatic high beam headlights, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
The 2019 RX carries over a quintet of upgrade packages, all of which share the base model's $1,150 price drop. The Navigation package adds the obvious and is priced at $56,700; a Luxury package brings front and rear clearance sonar, rear door sunshades, 12.3-inch infotainment display, LED taillights and wood-and-leather-trimmed steering wheel, for $62,950; the $68,600 Executive package adds a 15-speaker Mark Levinson stereo, hands-free tailgate, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, wide-view exterior camera system and power-folding rear seats.
RX options are rounded out by a pair of F Sport packages. Series 2 ($64,050) builds on the base model and adds items from the Navigation and Luxury packages, while Series 3 ($68,600) builds in features from the Executive package. Both also include an upgraded gauge cluster and F Sport steering wheel and other cosmetic details.
On the hybrid side of the ledger, the RX 450h comes in at $64,500, down from the 2018 model's original price of $70,900. It includes a 12.3-inch infotainment display, sunroof, 20-inch wheels, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, clearance sonar with automatic braking, ventilated front seats, 12-speaker stereo and navigation. Lexus has removed premium LED headlights from the list of standard kit.
They're now part of a new RX 450h Luxury package -- priced at $69,550 -- that adds the same niceties as the RX 350 Luxury group. Likewise, an Executive package brings a similar list of additions as it does to the RX 350, at $1,350 less than last year.
RX 450h models can also be had in F Sport Series 3 form, whose $75,450 price (down from $76,800) builds on the Luxury package and adds the Executive package's goodies, plus an adaptive variable suspension and a variety of trim-specific cosmetic pieces.
Note that we're comparing this year's prices with those announced at the 2018 model's launch in December of last year; Lexus raised the RX's prices mid-way through the 2018 model year. Also, as we write this, Lexus's consumer site shows a $4,000 delivery credit (read: discount) on the 2018 RX, which is an even more attractive deal than the reduced-MSRP 2019 version, which is available at Lexus dealers across Canada.
