Lamborghini has revealed details of the latest version of its Huracan supercar, dubbed the Evo, which gets a new look, improved aerodynamics and an upgraded chassis that promises an even broader performance envelope.
The Evo's new look is based on that of the Performante variant, but is about more than appearances. Updates include front and rear styling based around new spoiler designs to improve airflow, while a new underbody design has the same aim. The Evo's rear is an update on the Performante's, with high-mounted exhaust outlets. Lambo says the overall result is downforce and aerodynamic efficiency five times better than the original Huracan.
Under the Evo's touched up body is a new rear-wheel steering setup and four-wheel torque-vectoring system that work with the latest version of Lambo's integrated vehicle dynamics platform. It now looks after every aspect of the car's behaviour, monitoring acceleration front-to-rear, side-to-side and up-and-down. An updated version of Lambo's magneto-rheological suspension plays a big part there, adjusting damping forces according to information from the updated chassis control system.
Changes to the car's traction control system and the torque-vectoring AWD setup allow the car to send all of the engine's power to a single wheel, if that's the best way to keep the car moving. The rear-wheel steering system performs the expected functions of improving low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability.
Like the Performante, the new Evo uses a version of the Huracan's V10 tuned for 640 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque that's good for a 2.9-second 0–100 km/h sprint, a 0–200 km/h time of nine seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h.
When you're done pushing the Evo to its limits, enjoy Lambo's promised infotainment improvements, including a new 8.4-inch touchscreen that allows tablet-like multi-finger gesture control. The screen also incorporates controls for the power seats, air conditioning, and the vehicle dynamics system.
The 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo goes on sale around the world in the spring of this year.
