Jaguar I-Pace and Kia Stinger Take Canadian Car of the Year Awards

The Kia Stinger and Jaguar I-Pace are the winners of this year's Canadian Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards. The annual prizes are presented by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada based on votes cast by journalists at the organization's Testfest event.

The I-Pace is Jaguar's first-ever EV and the first electric vehicle to win an AJAC overall Canadian Car of the Year award. It was eligible for the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year prize following its being named the top Premium EV for 2019. It beat out the Mazda CX-5 (Best Mid-Size Utility Vehicle) and Hyundai Kona (Best Small Utility Vehicle) for the overall award.

Kia's Stinger is a full-size sport sedan named Best Large Car in 2019 Canadian Car of the Year voting. It was up against the Kia Forte (Best Small Car) and Volvo's V90 R-Design (Best Large Premium Car).

This year's other category winners were the Mercedes-Benz E 400 (Best Mid-Size Premium Car); Mazda MX-5 (Best Sports - Performance Car); Mazda CX-9 (Best Large Utility Vehicle); Infiniti QX50 (Best Mid-Size Premium Utility Vehicle); Ford F-150 (Best Pick-Up); and the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (Best EV).
