Chevrolet has just announced a new crossover, set to fill yet another slot in the automaker's market between small and smaller on the CUV scale. The new Trailblazer will arrive early next year as a 2021 model.
The Trailblazer, which uses a badge Chevrolet has previously used on a luxury version of the Early 2000s blazer, then later as a stand-alone on that model's replacement.
Chevy isn't giving us much info about it just yet, other than to say that it'll fit between the Trax and the Equinox on the floor at your local dealer.
That makes it smaller than the Blazer that's arriving at dealers now, but it looks very much like its big brother and namesake. On the outside, that is. The exterior's Camaro-inspired appearance doesn't come to the interior like it does in the bigger model.
“The Trailblazer’s great design enables more personalization,” said Laura Pacey, brand director with Chevrolet. “Trailblazer is a continuation of the design language for Chevy’s crossover family and extends our momentum into one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.”
Without the automaker confirming dimensions, being between the Trax and Equinox should make it somewhere between the 4,257 and 4,652 mm length of that pair.
While GM Canada told us in April that the Trailblazer revealed then in China was for that market only, this appears to be the same vehicle.
What GM is saying today is that it will be available with RS trim and a two-tone roof, plus standard active safety like front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise and rear park assist.
Chevrolet says that pricing and specifications for the latest crossover will come later.
