This year marks 50 years for Honda in Canada, and part of the celebrations will happen at the Honda Indy Toronto. Honda Canada and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association will be making Friday free to help raise money for Make-A-Wish Canada.
Run since 1986 around Toronto's Exhibition Place, 2019 marks the 11th year for Honda's title sponsorship. The race takes place over the July 12-14th weekend. July 12th will be Fan Friday, meaning that any fans who make a voluntary donation to Make-A-Wish Canada will get general admission to that day's track activities. Honda says that nearly $700,000 has been raised for the charity since the initiative started.
On top of the admission with donation, Honda Indy Toronto will be having a pancake breakfast Friday morning at the Pinty's Pub & Grille at turn one. With a $5 Make-A-Wish suggested donation, it'll run from 8 am until the pancakes are gone.

We are especially thrilled with the impact Honda Fan Friday continues to have on our community and Make-A-Wish Canada,” said Jeff Atkinson, Honda Indy Toronto President. “Every donation made by festival-goers at the Honda Indy Toronto is matched dollar for dollar by the Honda Canada Foundation. We encourage everyone to get involved in this worthy cause whether attending in person or not.”
Honda will also be bringing the Honda World exhibit to the event with Acura NSX virtual racing, a 50th Anniversary Honda museum, scavenger hunts, and a Virtual Reality Hockey Shootout.
The brand will also have an Acura NSX and GT3 cars on display, along with the brand's full line of powersports and power equipment. Kids age 6-12 can suit up and hop on a Junior Red Riders dirtbike. The Honda SpeedZone will offer family seating with free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones.
Of course, there's racing too. The Porsche GT3 Cup, Indy Lights, NASCAR Pinty's Series and the NTT IndyCar series will all be on track with practice, qualifying, and races held throughout the weekend.
