Subaru Announces 2020 Ascent Updates, Pricing

Subaru is giving the year-old three-row Ascent some updates for 2020 as well as revised pricing, up $700 from last year.

The first is a new rear-seat reminder system has been added. The Ascent is the first Subaru to offer the alert, which is quickly becoming common across the market. It doesn't use occupancy sensors for the rear, but instead monitors the rear doors. Start the Ascent within 30 minutes of opening either rear door and it engages. Or if you open a rear door while the car is running. When you turn the Ascent off, the driver will get an audible alert and an in-dash message reminding them to check the back seat. The alert was designed to help prevent forgetting a child or pet in the car. Subaru has also added a new centralized close and lock button for the tailgate. Like the one on the Forester, it lets the user close the hatch and lock all the doors with a single button press.

The other changes are small ones, such as power-folding mirrors added to the Premier trim. Other versions get a one-touch interior lighting switch.

Unchanged are the seating configurations for up to eight people and the 2.4L turbocharged boxer four's 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. The 2020 Subaru Ascent will start from $36,695 and comes in four trim levels. The 2020 Ascent should arrive at dealers soon.
