Latest Lotus Launches for Local Lightweight Lovers

Lotus has revealed a new model just for Canada! Well, and the US, but hey, we'll take it, right? Lotus says that the 416 hp Evora GT is the fastest and most powerful road model they've made for our market.

The GT replaces the Evora Sport 410 and the Evora 400. The latest model from the British sports car builder is available as a two-seater and with a 2+2 back seat when you need a bit extra space.

This car is loaded with carbon. Or is that stripped down with carbon? Carbon-fibre parts for the rear bumper, A-pillars, rear wheel ducts, and the sill covers are standard. Or get the optional Carbon Pack that replaces the front trunk, roof panel, tailgate, and diffuser to trim 22 kg from the car.

That makes it just 1,408 kg – 32 kilos lighter than the Evora 400.

Powering the Evora GT is a 3.5L V6 that's been fitted with a supercharger. It's tuned for 416 hp at 7,000 rpm and 317 lb-ft of torque from 3,500 rpm. Fitted with the six-speed manual box, it can hit 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The automatic adds 15 lb-ft of torque and Lotus says it hits a similar time.

Helping the Evora GT stick, revised air management and a front lip spoiler work to reduce drag. They also help deliver 64 kg of downforce at speed – double the old car.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed with Alcantara and twin-colour stitching. There's a magnesium steering wheel to help keep the weight down, and a carbon-fibre instrument cluster. Infotainment comes courtesy of a 7.0-inch touchscreen system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. If you want to further customize your Evora, Lotus Exclusive can offer up more options, and the company says a third of buyers take that route.

If you're looking to get the latest from Lotus, the 2020 Evora GT is available to order now. Starting from US$96,950.
