Celebrity Cars On Display at CNE

Fans of classic TV and movie cars in the GTA may want to circle August 19th on their calendar, for when some of the biggest stars of the small and big screen in the ‘80s and ‘90s land at the CNE for one day only.

Michael Knight’s famous 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am from Knight Rider, the 1981 DeLorean from the Back to the Future movies, and a 1992 Jeep Wrangler from the original Jurassic Park movie will be there, among other automotive stars borrowed from the ones to be displayed later in the week at the Fan Expo Canada show.

Admission to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition, or ‘Ex’ to locals) on Monday will also provide access to view these vehicles up close, minus most of their superpowers or jumping abilities, as part of the Fan Expo Canada’s Picnic & Parade between 12-4pm.

Other vehicles set to go on display at the CNE and then Fan Expo Canada include:

  • the 1969 Dodge Monaco from the Blues Brothers!
  • the Dukes of Hazzard 1969 Dodge Charger
  • Herbie the Love Bug, aka the ’53 numbered 1963 VW Beetle that inspired so many punches.
  • the 1975 Ford Gran Torino, from Starsky & Hutch.

After their downtown Toronto appearance, the vehicles will then be moved to their respective displays at the Fan Expo Canada show - think ComicCon North - by that show’s opening on Thursday, August 22nd, to the end of the weekend. There, the Jurassic Jeep will be on point with one of the stars of the show, Jeff Goldblum, who starred in most of the Jurassic Park movies.
