Toyota Canada today announced pricing for the 2020 Tundra full-size pickup truck, whose lineup includes three new trim levels, taking the total number of available configurations to 17.
A starting price of $40,190 (4x2 Double Cab SR5 Plus) is a $565 increase over the 2019 model's entry tag. For the extra money, the Tundra now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility, plus a new Connected Services by Toyota that allows a driver to communicate with the vehicle via a smartphone app and use the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa to control certain vehicle functions.
Two new Premium trims bring some upscale touches to the Tundra's TRD (Toyota Racing Development) Sport and Off Road packages. In both trims, the Premium option brings leather seating, leather-trimmed steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert, and a spray-in bed liner. Pricing starts at $53,550 for TRD Sport Premium and $53,620 for TRD Off Road Premium.
Also new for 2020 is an SX appearance package for the Tundra CrewMax. Introduced last year on Double Cab models, the SX adds gloss black wheels, black grille, and privacy glass. It's based on the SR5 4x4 trim, and goes for $46,250 on the Double Cab truck and $47,350 in CrewMax form.
Toyota has also shifted the Tundra's available embedded navigation option to higher-priced trims, presumably because the smartphone integration functions allow you to port navigation to the truck's infotainment system from a smart device.
On the minus side, Toyota no longer offers the Tundra with the 4.6L engine that powered last year's entry-level 4x4 model. That leaves all Tundra variants with a 5.7L V8 (381 hp/401 lb-ft) and a six-speed automatic transmission. As before, only the entry-level trim is a rear-driver, with the Tundra's 16 other configurations based around a 4x4 drivetrain.
The 2020 Toyota Tundra is on sale now at the brand's dealers across Canada.
