2021 Kia Seltos SUV Slots Between Soul and Sportage

The 2021 Kia Seltos has made its debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, offering customers a right-sized ride that slots in between the subcompact Soul and the compact Sportage in the Korean automaker's SUV lineup.

Kia describes the Seltos as "a marriage of bold design and delicate details," that aims to stand apart from its B-segment rivals "with its strong, upright stance," and "spacious, versatile cabin."

The base engine in the Seltos is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder, which is good for 146 horsepower. This engine will be offered in the lesser LX, EX and S trims, while a 175-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder is available in the S trim and standard in the range-topping SX trim. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) will serve in 2.0-litre models, while 1.6-litre turbo models get a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. AWD is also available as an option.

A large 10.25-inch infotainment screen sits front and center in the cabin. Lower trim levels will receive a smaller display screen - though both will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 3.5-inch OLED screen occupies the gauge cluster on LX, EX and S models, while the range-topping SX model gets a 7-inch full digital cluster. Wireless charging, multi-device Bluetooth, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system will also be offered as options.

A number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems will be available on the crossover as part of the Kia Drive Wise suite, including Highway Driving Assist with Frontal Collision Avoidance, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist and Driver Attention Warning, among more.

The 2021 Kia Seltos will go on sale in the United States in early 2020. Canadian availability has not yet been announced though we expect it to arrive shortly after it goes on sale in the U.S. Canadian pricing is also not available at this time, however Kia is promising the LX model will all-wheel drive will start at around $22,000 USD, while the better equipped S model with FWD will start at roughly the same price in the U.S.
