Top 10 Best Car Interiors: Wards Auto 2020

Every year, the industry analysts at Wards Auto take a look at all of the significant new car, truck, and SUV interiors in the business and pick out the best. Out of 32 nominated vehicles this year, the analysts have crowned 10 winning interiors for 2020. Yes, some of these are big dollar rides, but there are some reasonably priced models on the list, too, including one that's the cheapest crossover on the market. So here's the whole list, in alphabetical order, and why the editors at Wards think they're tops.

Audi e-tron

Audi's electric e-tron crossover made the list for, Wards says, "proving electric-vehicle interiors can be as comfortable, alluring and user-friendly as their internal-combustion-engine counterparts." Audi's interiors are already top-notch, and the matte woods, supple leathers, and ergonomics all make this a winner.

Bentley Flying Spur

Of course the six-figure Bentley has a great interior, but that doesn't guarantee a spot on the list. Chrome-plated seat tracks, artistic pillars, and cricket ball red leather with more texture than a chip seal road do that work.

BMW X6

Wards says that the X6M performance crossover "is a gorgeous, functional mix," blending design, comfort, luxury, and things like heavy bolsters that are required for something this quick. Customizable M-mode selectors for function and loads of accents to help the design statement.

Chevrolet Corvette C8

Like sitting inside a fighter plane, the C8 is the first Corvette with an interior that matches the performance. Carbon fibre trim, space-saving buttons, and loads of microsuede rule this inside.

Hyundai Venue

The cheapest model on the list, the Venue offers fun features like a blue and cream colour scheme and denim-colour blue leather. Fitting like comfortable jeans and accented with white piping, this is a very stylish subcompact.

Kia Telluride

Rugged, open-pore wood, lots of leather, and beefy grab handles all help make the Teluride one of the most premium-looking big crossovers with a budget price. Even the headliner is similar to Alcantara, a real luxury touch.

Lincoln Aviator

Lincoln is back with a whole lot-full of new models, and the midsize Aviator crossover is one of the latest. How much effort is Lincoln putting in now? They had the Detroit Symphony Orchestra record the door chimes. Laminated glass and extra hood sealing keep it quiet and the cabin's excellent trimmings and "economy of buttons" make this a winner.

Mercedes-Benz GLB

With an interior that matches its more expensive siblings and the infotainment tech to go with it, Wards called this "a precision-built piece of German craftsmanship." And life's as nice for back seat drivers, too.

Nissan Sentra

Impressive for a car that starts under $20k, Wards liked the slightly more expensive SV Premium's interior leather in caramel with a diamond-quilt pattern normally reserved for much higher prices. It also has lots of soft-touch surfaces where other cars go hard, and great ergonomics with large buttons.

Toyota Highlander

On this list there can be more than one, and the new Highlander earns its spot. Loads of storage bins, impressive ergonomics, and rich leather that one lead one Wards editor to say that "Toyota is setting the bar high for non-luxury-vehicle interiors these days."
