Volkswagen Offering Three Years of Free Charging with New ID.4

In preparation for the arrival of its first purpose-built EV in Canada, Volkswagen has announced three years of unlimited complimentary charging on the Electrify Canada network for owners of the new 2021 Volkswagen ID.4.

"The new ID.4 is designed and engineered to inspire consumers to make the switch to electric by offering all the strengths of a purpose-built SUV, with performance, packaging and value," said Pierre Boutin, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "This collaboration with Electrify Canada allows us to enhance the overall customer experience, by offering complimentary, seamless fast-charging for their first three years of ownership."

Electrify Canada currently offers 27 charging stations across the country with a total of 108 chargers that have 150 kW and 350 kW charging available, which is fast enough to bring a Volkswagen ID.4 from five to 80 per cent charge in as little as 38 minutes.

While the charging network is limited to just four provinces right now, Electrify Canada recently announced plans to expand the network to include more than 100 stations and 500 individual chargers by 2025. That would expand its coverage to nine provinces with charging stations from Halifax to Victoria, and make cross-country travel (with the exception of NL) on the network possible.

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 electric crossover starts from $44,995 for the rear-drive Pro model and $49,995 for the AWD Pro model. It should arrive at dealers this fall. Electrify Canada was started as a partnership between Electrify America (a subsidiary of VW Group of America) and Volkswagen Group Canada.
