Pricing Increases for 2022 Subaru BRZ

Subaru today announced that its second-generation BRZ sports car will come with a starting price of $29,495 when it arrives in Canada this fall. That’s a $1,500 increase compared to the first-gen car that ended its run as a 2020 model.

The base price includes a six-speed manual transmission to channel the 2.4L flat-four engine’s power to the rear wheels. Adding an optional six-speed automatic gearbox ups the price of entry to $31,895 and includes Subaru’s EyeSight driver safety assist suite, which was not offered in the original BRZ.

Standard features will include an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, customizable 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, passive keyless entry, and Starlink connected services.

A Sport-tech trim level comes in at $32,495 with the stickshift, and $34,895 with the automatic and EyeSight. Sport-tech gets matte grey wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, heated leather/Ultrasuede seats, an eight-speaker stereo, blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and steering-responsive headlights.

All 2022 Subaru BRZ models use a 2.4L four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. On paper, that’s not a huge increase over the old 2.0L’s 205 hp, but the new engine boasts more consistent torque delivery and makes the 2022 Subaru BRZ about a second quicker in the zero-to-100-km/h sprint.
