Hyundai to Debut Electric SUV Concept Soon Called the Seven

Hyundai will be unveiling an electric SUV concept called the Seven, which will preview an upcoming EV in the brand's Ioniq lineup. Leading up to the concept car's reveal at the L.A. auto show later this month, Hyundai has released a teaser image previewing what to expect.

The Hyundai Seven concept teasers show a vehicle with styling much like that of the Ioniq 5 EV. The brand is showcasing pixel-style lighting like that of the Ioniq 5 including running lights that blend seamlessly into front mesh grilles and a second that looks to run from corner to corner across the front edge of the hood.

Inside, the Seven gives us a glimpse of a new seating concept that looks more like Captain Picard's throne from the Starship Enterprise than it does anything found in a current automobile, electric or otherwise. The automaker says that the cabin is meant to suggest "a premium and personalized lounge ambience." It will also be covered with sustainable materials for a more eco-friendly experience.

Another interior photo shows what looks to be an electric version of a hurricane lamp in the vehicle that sits alongside wooden panels in place of traditional plastic interior fittings. There is also a rear seat that looks more chesterfield than automotive. The seats themselves appear to be textile, rather than leather, and in a modern electric concept, that likely means wool.

The full reveal of the Seven will happen on Nov. 17 as part of the AutoMobility L.A. event. We're expecting three rows of seating in this concept, which is currently very underserved with EV options and another important step in EVs joining the mainstream auto market.
