Hope You Never Encounter This Scary Security Device

If we were to make a list of things that we didn't want to ever encounter on the road, the MVB 3X would be near the very top of it. It's a safety barrier that can be installed by just one person but can stop some seriously big trucks dead in their tracks.

The Modular Vehicle Barrier from Mifram Security is meant to be a temporary barrier to stop "ramming vehicles from entry into restricted areas." So to stop anyone from driving into a crowd, parade, or other events that put people where cars and trucks can also go.

Unlike permanent barriers that are built into the ground and use massive blocks of concrete or steel, this barrier works by diverting the momentum of the vehicle to stop it. Straight up.

The company's YouTube channel has plenty of videos that show the barrier doing its job, with pickups and large trucks striking them at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and if you want to watch some vehicular mayhem, this is some of the best.

Just watch the video below, where a Ram pickup strikes the barrier. The front wheels are able to pass over it (barely), then the barrier launches the truck upwards, bringing it to a complete stop in just 10 metres.

It's designed to stop deliberate attacks, but it works equally well against drivers who are going somewhere they shouldn't by mistake. We'd say it could work more effectively to stop a high-speed pursuit than spike strips, too. What we're certain about is that we never want to encounter one of these security devices with our own vehicle.
