All-New 2022 Subaru WRX Pricing Announced

Subaru today announced that pricing for its all-new WRX will start at $30,995 (before freight and PDI) when it arrives at Canadian dealerships in the spring.

This fifth-generation 2022 Subaru WRX moves away from its roots as a high-performance variant of the Impreza economy car in gaining more suspension travel and ride height, traits that call back to the WRX’s rally racing heritage.

The $30,995 price ($1,000 more than that of the outgoing WRX) applies to the car’s base model (simply called WRX), while Sport trim carries a $35,495 MSRP, and Sport-tech models go for $39,295; all three match the new 2.4L turbo four-cylinder engine (271 hp/258 lb-ft) with a six-speed manual transmission. Sport and Sport-tech models can be optioned with the EyeSight safety suite for another $2,600, which includes a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that the company now calls Subaru Performance Transmission (SPT).

While the outgoing WRX also offered a CVT, Subaru claims the new one upshifts 30 per cent faster, while downshifts are 50 per cent speedier. It also aims to maintain an “ideal” ratio through corners and respond more promptly to the driver’s input at corner exit. The SPT also has enhanced oil cooling capacity to help prevent overheating in aggressive driving and improve durability.

Base models come with 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, LED headlights, and dual 7.0-inch touchscreen displays.

Sport trim adds an 11.6-inch touchscreen, 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, a lip spoiler, and blind spot detection with lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Finally, Sport-tech gains navigation, Ultrasuede seating, heated rear seats, steerable headlights, and an 11-speaker stereo.
