OTA Updates Coming to Porsche Taycan Owners for Faster Charging and More Range

Porsche has announced that Taycans from model year 2020 to 2023 will get over-the-air (OTA) updates that will enable faster charging, more range, wireless Android Auto, and a few other software-related upgrades.

The biggest update will allow Taycan drivers to have a more reliably quick charging experience. Porsche has improved the thermal efficiency of the charging and battery software to enhance the charging curve so drivers will get faster charging more often.

The German automaker says the software updates will also unlock about 50 km of additional range on the generous European testing cycle. Dual-motor all-wheel drive Taycan variants will now be able to decouple in certain driving modes to reduce parasitic load and increase efficiency. Also, once drivers set up their regenerative braking preferences, the settings will be retained when switching drive modes and after parking.

Canadian drivers can expect a bit less than 50 km of additional range, as our range estimates are more conservative than the European ones.

The Taycan's infotainment system will also get an updated user interface, updated design, and the ability to filter charging stations by power output. Spotify, a revised head-up display, and wireless Android Auto are also included.

The timing for the rollout of these OTA updates to Canadian drivers has not yet been announced, but Taycan owners can expect to get a letter informing them how to get the updates in the near future.
