Lexus is tweaking the UX 250h subcompact crossover for 2023. The biggest change is an update to the brand's latest infotainment multimedia system with a new screen and interface, but there is also a new Elegance special edition as well as an F Sport Design trim level.
The new infotainment system is called the Lexus Interface. It has cloud navigation, online destination assist, and "Hey Lexus" voice prompt assistance that offers natural speech recognition and control of some vehicle functions. The system is now fully operated via touchscreen (with a couple of dials for audio and climate control) and drops the trackpad used in prior years. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now added as well.
The 2023 Lexus UX features the Safety System+ 2.5 driver assistance suite. It includes all-speed radar cruise control, automatic high beams, lane departure alert with steering assist, and pre-collision system with pedestrian and bicycle detection.
The Elegance Special Edition trim is new for 2023, adding 18-inch alloys, LED fog lamps, and triple-LED headlights to the base Premium model. The Elegance part includes a new acorn-colour interior with a specially trimmed steering wheel. It has mauve seats with black accents, too. This one is offered in two paint colours: Eminent Pearl White and Caviar.
F Sport Design is the other new trim, adding F Sport wheels, mesh grille, and bumper trims without the features of the F Sport Series 1 and 2 models like a more extensive appearance package, F Sport seats, digital dash, variable suspension, and more.
Lexus offers just one engine in the UX, a hybrid system that makes 181 hp. With all-wheel drive as standard and an estimated 5.7 L/100 km city, 6.2 highway.
The 2023 UX 250h starts from $41,450, up $750 from last year. It is on sale at Lexus dealers now.
