The Buick Encore GX took to the stage today at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto. For 2024, the smallest Buick gets a substantial refresh that includes a new nose but, more significantly, debuts a brand-new and very large infotainment system for the marque.
The 2024 Buick Encore GX starts with a new front fascia with a look borrowed from the Wildcat EV concept. It has a big and low-mounted new front grille, winged LED headlights, and cool new LED tail lamps. The tweaks completely transform the look of the small crossover, though the new grille might not be to everyone's taste.
On the inside, you'll find what Buick calls the Virtual Cockpit System. The new display has an 11.0-inch infotainment screen combined with an 8.0-inch digital dash, both mounted behind one continuous pane of glass. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Buick says the screen is the biggest in class and the new infotainment design will be coming to its other models.
For 2024, Buick is adding its top-level Avenir trim to the Encore GX. Like on other Buick vehicles, the Avenir trim brings a unique grille treatment, special taillamps, and Avenir-specific wheels to the GX. The Avenir cabin will include exclusive whisper beige and jet black leather seats and dash, eight-way power seats, heated steering wheel, and embroidered Avenir headrests.
Buick's Driver Confidence Package will be standard on the 2024 Encore GX. It includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and other features. Adaptive cruise, blind spot alerts, and rear camera mirror will be available.
All Encore GX models will come with a 155-hp, 174 lb-ft 1.3L turbocharged three-cylinder engine. Front-drive models will have a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Models with all-wheel drive (AWD), standard on Sport Touring and Avenir trims, will have a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Buick says the 2024 Encore GX will start production next month, meaning customers can expect to see it in late spring. Expect pricing in the spring.
