The totally new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has just debuted, evolving the brand's styling language and bringing a new hybrid powertrain, a massive new display, and loads of other tech to the brand's larger two-row crossover.
While the shape and silhouette of the new Nautilus don't look too different from the old one, Lincoln has made serious changes to the details starting with the sleek new door handles. Like the ones on the Lincoln Continental, they are hidden in window trim instead of cluttering up the middle of the door.
The rear gets a new full-width LED light bar and looks much sleeker than before. At the front, Lincoln has added slimmer headlights, a much more aggressive grille, and another strip of LED lights.
On the inside, the steering wheel, door panels, and much of the rest of the design, looks much like the other current Lincoln models, but the screen in the centre is like nothing else.
Going nearly from door to door, the curved display is actually a pair of 24-inch screens linked together. That's 48 inches of display, or what we're going to call a "sheet" of screens.
The big display is set far from the driver, letting them keep their eyes on the road. To control the infotainment system and other functions is a smaller and much more conventional 11.0-inch display in the centre of the dash.
Lincoln is adding the company's most advanced driver assistance systems, which includes Lincoln BlueCruise 1.2 hands-free driving assistant, lane change assist, and plenty more. Adaptive suspension will also be included to help ensure a cushy ride.
Two powertrains will be offered, both using a 2.0L gas engine. The first has 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque and will have an eight-speed automatic transmission. The second adds hybrid power to that turbo four-cylinder for a total of 310 hp and will be mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Lincoln expects the 2024 Nautilus to hit showrooms early next year. But unlike the current Nautilus, built in Oakville, Ont., the 2024 model will be built in Hangzhou. Ford will be reconfiguring the Ontario plant to build a new generation of EVs starting in the middle of 2024.
