2024 NACTOY Award Finalists Revealed, EVs Dominate

Nine finalists for the 2024 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards have been announced at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. This year, five of the nine finalists are electric vehicles (EVs).

The finalists for North American Car of the Year are the Honda Accord, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Toyota Prius/Prius Prime.

Truck of the Year finalists are the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford Super Duty, and Chevrolet Colorado.

Finalists for Utility Vehicle of the Year are the Genesis GV70/Electrified GV70, Kia EV9, and Volvo EX30.

"These finalists make a lot of sense to me," said Jodi Lai, AutoTrader Editor-in-Chief and NACTOY jury member. "All of these vehicles are executed extremely well and go above and beyond what's expected to raise the bar for the industry as a whole."

The jury comprises more than 50 professional automotive journalists from across North America. Before voting, jurors meet in Michigan for a multi-day test driving event where they can drive all the eligible vehicles back to back. Any vehicle that is new or significantly changed is eligible for an award.

This year, 52 cars were eligible, which was narrowed down to a top 25. Winners will be announced on Jan. 4, 2024 in Pontiac, Mich.
