Refreshed 2024 Kia Sorento Adds Off-Road Inspired X-Pro Trim to Lineup

It feels like the newly redesigned Kia Sorento had just arrived but now a refreshed version has been revealed at the 2023 L.A. Auto Show.

The 2024 Kia Sorento will feature next-level technology borrowed from the new EV9 electric three-row SUV, a more premium interior, a “strikingly confident” exterior redesign, and a new X-Pro off-road trim for the first time.

Designers have used the Kia Telluride for inspiration, bringing the Sorento more in line with the rest of the brand’s offerings. Starting with the new amber daytime running lights accenting a new vertical headlamp design framing a larger reshaped grille, and a subtle redesign of the rear taillights.

There are some big changes inside as well with redesigned centre climate vents now oriented horizontally and a large curved display featuring dual 12.3-inch screens. There will be new wheels designs and new colours like Midnight Lake Blue and Dawning Red.

The big news is the addition of an off-road inspired trim that Kia calls X-Pro, first seen on the Telluride. X-Pro models will feature 17-inch wheels with large sidewalls and standard BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, 8.2 inches of ground clearance, and an increased towing capacity of 1,814 kg (4,000 lb). They will also feature X-Pro badging inside and out, embossed seats, and new interior and exterior colour combinations.

The Sorento X-Line carries over and will feature a locking centre differential, unique bumper treatments, gloss black grille, 20-inch wheels and, of course, X-Line badging inside and out.

The Sorento will be the first new Kia to feature the brand’s latest infotainment system dubbed Connected Car Navigation Cockpit. The system is faster, has better graphics, and will feature an easier-to-use operating system. USB-C ports in all three rows should keep everyone in the family happy and connected. Customers will also be able to use their phone as key with the available digital key 2.0.

Advanced driver assistance features like forward collision avoidance assist have been upgraded to help detect pedestrians, cyclists, and oncoming vehicles while turning left at an intersection.

Engines will carry over with base trims getting a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder that produces 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, while higher level trims get a turbocharged version upping the power figures to 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.

The newly refreshed 2024 Kia Sorento should start arriving in dealers early next year with hybrid and plug-in hybrid trims expected later in the year.
