All-New 2024 Porsche Panamera Gets More Power, More Advanced Suspension

The redesigned 2024 Porsche Panamera has just debuted. The third-generation executive rocketship gets more power and new tech, with upgrades including a new active suspension and a cabin designed to better balance the line between digital control functionality and the analog experience that connects the driver with the car.

With an extra 37 mm in length (5,052 mm in total or 5,202 mm for the long-wheelbase Executive) the 2024 Porsche Panamera is slightly longer, but the same in all other dimensions compared with the outgoing model. It's not actually wider, but the exterior design has been tweaked to make it look that way.

A new air intake in the front feeds more powerful engines. The 2.9L twin-turbo V6 in the base Panamera and Panamera 4 now makes 348 hp and 368 lb-ft, 23 and 37 more than before, and it will be the only model available at launch.

Four E-Hybrid models will be offered, starting with the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. Its 4.0L V8 has been completely reworked and combined with a 187-hp electric motor (53 hp more), it will make a total of 670 hp and 685 lb-ft. This is a new addition to the Panamera lineup, offering just 20 hp less (and 43 lb-ft more torque) than the outgoing Turbo S E-Hybrid. Porsche didn't detail the rest of the powertrain lineup, so we expect to hear more next year.

Turbo E-Hybrid models will be visually distinguished from other models by a new lower rear fascia with body-colour diffuser and a Turbo-specific front fascia. Centre-locking wheels will also be an option. All Turbo models will get a Porsche crest and other trim finished in "Turbonite" a new matte grey colour Porsche has introduced for those models.

To improve handling, Porsche has added a two-chamber air suspension system with Active Suspension Management as standard. Porsche says the latest version of the system has a wider range between comfort and firm, along with better control.

E-hybrid models can be fitted with Porsche Active Ride, a system that uses active shock absorbers connected to a hydraulic pump that Porsche says widens the comfort and dynamic spread even more. Active Ride can also eliminate body pitch and roll, even under heavy braking, Porsche said.

Panamera models will get better integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with the Apple option getting the best features like control of the climate, seats, and lighting integrated into CarPlay and Siri. A new passenger screen will let your front seat occupant run the infotainment system or even watch streaming video, without the driver being able to see.

New 32,000-pixel matrix LED lights will be standard. They can light up to 600 m down the road but can adjust lighting to avoid blinding oncoming traffic at the same time. Other tech upgrades include a new active speed limiter and the addition of lane keeping and evasive manoeuvre assist to the adaptive cruise control system. Remote ParkAssist will let the driver park their Panamera from outside using their phone.

As in the Taycan, the gear selector has been moved beside the steering wheel. The drive mode switch and driver assist controls are also within a finger's reach.

Orders for the new 2024 Porsche Panamera are now open. Pricing starts from $116,300 for the rear-drive model, and the Panamera 4 runs from $120,600. Porsche lists the current Panamera as starting from $110,962. Deliveries in Canada are expected to start in the Spring, and Turbo E-Hybrid models will come later as model year 2025.
