Acura Performance EV Concept Previews New Electric SUV for 2025

In keeping with its aim to go all-electric, Acura debuted its new Performance EV Concept during Monterey Car Week.

The show vehicle, which will be on display at the Quail and Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, previews the next EV the brand will produce and develop after the ZDX, its first all-electric vehicle.

This upcoming EV is set to go into production in late 2025 and will be based on an all-new in-house Honda-developed EV platform, unlike the ZDX, which is based on a platform borrowed from General Motors and shares its underpinnings with the Cadillac Lyriq and Honda Prologue.

The design of the concept appears to be more like a “coupe” SUV with a dramatically sloping roofline and is inspired by the first-generation gas-powered ZDX from 2010.

Finished in a “Moonlit White Pearl” paint scheme and equipped with 23-inch wheels, the concept EV has a vented hood that stretches forward from the A-pillars and prominent side vents.

Acura’s head of design, Dave Marek, says that these design elements will be seen on future Acura vehicles.

Along with the blacked-out pillars and roof, the concept EV has an upswept decklid, full-width taillight, and a large diffuser that pays homage to the second-generation NSX. The design, along with the concept’s name, hints that the upcoming SUV will have a focus on driving dynamics and high performance.

The brand’s lettering placed across the tailgate in a new font will also be seen across all Acura’s electrified vehicles.

The production version of this EV concept will be developed and built at the new Honda EV Hub in Marysville, Ohio. Since Acura has a good track record of releasing concept vehicles that are quite similar to production versions, we can expect this new electric coupe SUV to retain a lot of the styling seen in this concept, though expect it to be pared back when it arrives.
