Ford Thailand Video Teases Ranger Raptor's Off-Road Prowess

Ford hasn't even set an official on-sale date for its latest Ranger mid-size pickup -- recently revealed at the Detroit auto show -- but the company's Thailand division has already published a video of a Raptor variant going for a rip through a variety of challenging off-road conditions.

Given the popularity of the 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor, the manufacturer had to expect all kinds of questions about when and/or whether it would lend the new Ranger a similar treatment. This video answers that question by confirming that there will be a Ranger Raptor, but other important ones remain: What will power it? And will it be offered in North America?

Dump the Thai text below the video into Google Translate and this is what we get:

The performance of this pickup truck is strong. Ford Ranger Raptors face all forms of cruelty, all the way from rural Australia to Borrego, United States, to prove that this pickup is ready (to) go all the way.

It's a rough translation, but we presume Borrego refers to Borrego Springs, a SoCal locale where we gather off-roading is a Big Deal. Surely Ford wouldn't bring a Ranger Raptor all the way to the U.S. (or say they did) if they didn't plan on selling the truck here.

While we keep our fingers crossed this is a sign of things to come, have a look at the video, below.
